The village has developed around the medieval castle that stands on a small rise that can be achieved through the famous cypress avenue. The road is three miles long, starts in the valley, on the Via Aurelia, near the eighteenth-century Oratory of San Guido: the place was made famous by the poems of Carducci in his poem in front of San Guido. In addition, within the country is located the cemetery where his grandmother was buried the same poet. Not far from the inhabited center, placed at a height of nearly 400 meters above sea level, lies the ancient fortified Castiglioncello of Bolgheri. |
